Incident Response Retainer — reserved incident support
A major incident may require expertise and resources beyond routine operations. A retainer defines in advance how that support is activated, who is responsible and the conditions of engagement.
Service scope
Incident Response Retainer
A retainer covers clearly defined additional work, such as specialist analysis or expanding a crisis team. Before an event, we agree contacts, authorised people, support start times and budget. Parameters come from the contract, not a general promise of immediate availability.
Reserved expertise scope
We specify specialist tasks, expected resources and limits on their use during an incident.
Activation mechanism
We identify who can request support, how requests are confirmed and what information is needed to start.
Operating conditions
We define permissions, access, responsibilities and communication between SOC, specialists and the customer’s team.
Charging arrangements
We agree budgets, extension approvals and resource-use records to reduce uncertainty during a crisis.
Project deliverables
What will your team receive?
- A reserved-support scope specification.
- An activation procedure with contacts and permissions.
- Agreed work-start and charging parameters.
- Rules for documenting actions and handing over findings.
Delivery conditions
What do we agree before starting?
- Designated operational and budget decision-makers.
- Environmental information and potential specialist needs.
- An agreed method for providing access and transferring material.
How we work
From understanding the need to verifying the result.
Preparing cooperation
We define demand scenarios, specialist scope and activation rules.
Activating support
An authorised person triggers the agreed process, and the team verifies scope, access and priorities.
Delivery and accounting
We perform additional tasks with ongoing documentation and integrate results into incident handling.
Clear responsibilities
What is already included, and what do we extend?
Triage, incident analysis, authorised response, basic evidence preservation and case management belong to SOC. A retainer provides additional resources; an incident occurring does not make core handling an extra service.
Before making a decision
Questions about Incident Response Retainers
Will SOC refuse to respond without a retainer?
No. SOC delivers core incident handling and authorised actions within its scope. A retainer covers additional expertise and resources beyond that foundation.
Does a retainer guarantee time to eliminate a threat?
We agree support-start and communication parameters. Containment time also depends on the incident, access and environmental condition.
Can any type of work be activated?
The contract defines expertise, scope-extension rules and budget. Work outside that scope requires an appropriate authorised decision.
