Legacy system monitoring and custom integrations

An older system may still support an important process even without a ready-made monitoring connector. We help collect useful data and add the context needed to analyse threats and outages.

Service scope

Legacy system monitoring

We start with the technology’s available logs, interfaces, files and permissions. These determine safe data collection and event interpretation. We also document limitations: missing information in a source system cannot be replaced by a promise of complete visibility.

Source discovery

We examine interfaces, record formats, timestamps and read-access methods that avoid disrupting system operation.

Dedicated data collection

We develop connectors, scripts or file-reading mechanisms appropriate to the application and its limitations.

Interpretation and context

We structure event fields, assign meaning to messages and connect the source with its service and business owner.

Integration health checks

We define how to detect interrupted data delivery, format changes and the need to adapt a connector after updates.

Project deliverables

What will your team receive?

  • A data-source specification and visibility limitations.
  • A dedicated integration with configuration documentation.
  • Event interpretation rules and acceptance test results.
  • Maintenance and data-collection interruption instructions.

Delivery conditions

What do we agree before starting?

  • Access to documentation, sample logs and the system owner.
  • Agreed permissions and a secure data transfer path.
  • An environment or window for integration testing.

How we work

From understanding the need to verifying the result.

Feasibility assessment

We verify data samples and select events needed for specific monitoring scenarios.

Build and test

We prepare the integration, verify interpretation and assess data collection’s impact on the system.

Launch and handover

We add the source to the agreed plan and provide maintenance rules and limitations.

Clear responsibilities

What is already included, and what do we extend?

Standard connectors, available telemetry collection and maintenance of agreed integrations belong to the relevant core plan. Building a connector for unusual technology or a separate integration project is an extension; it does not automatically include legacy system administration.

Before making a decision

Questions about legacy system monitoring

Can a system without an API be monitored?

Available files, exports or other reading mechanisms can often be used. We confirm feasibility after reviewing the technology and permitted access methods.

What if the application does not log important events?

We identify the gap. Additional logging may require an application change, separate vendor work or acceptance of limited monitoring coverage.

Who adapts the integration after a system change?

At acceptance, we agree ownership, change-notification rules and connector maintenance scope so an update does not leave an unmanaged visibility gap.

The next step

Let us define a scope that makes sense for your organisation.

Let us discuss your environment, priorities and team responsibilities. We will use this to define the work, required access and service conditions.
